IS AN AWARD WINNING SCHOOL!
- Audubon was named a 2011 national Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Audubon is the first neighborhood K-8 Chicago Public School so honored, and was one of only 16 schools in Illinois to receive the award in 2011.
- Audubon was one of a small group of CPS schools to receive a “strong” rating in all five essential supports for school improvement from the Consortium on Chicago School Leadership, an independent public research organization of the University of Chicago. These supports include ambitious instruction, effective leaders, supportive environment, collaborative teachers and involved families.
- Audubon earned 100% of the 2011 Performance Policy Points from CPS based on an internal rating system making it a Tier I school and placing it in the top 1% of schools (high school and elementary schools) system-wide.
- The school received a Promising Practice Award from the Character Education Partnership in 2011 for its “Unique Week” that celebrates all students and promotes diversity.
- Audubon ranked first amongst the approximately 100 schools in its area in reading score growth in 2009-10, resulting in a $15,000 award from the regional superintendent.
- Audubon was an Illinois State Board of Education Spotlight School in 2006, 2007 and 2008…and an Academic Improvement Award winner in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
HAS OUTSTANDING TEACHERS!
- Audubon has five National Board Certified Teachers.
- The school boasts eight 2010-11 Rochelle Lee award winning teachers recognized for their commitment to literacy.
HAS A THRIVING STUDENT BODY!
- Audubon had 93.5% of all students meeting or exceeding standards on the ISAT test in 2011 besting the citywide average by over 20 percentage points.
- The school had an average daily attendance rate of 95.4% in 2011 besting the citywide average by 4 points.
- Enrollment for the 2011-12 school year was approximately 570 students Pre-K – 8th grade.
- Audubon has had a comprehensive anti-bullying program in place since 2007. The continuing efforts of the school’s inclusion committee and the recently added Middle School advisory and Second Step program demonstrate the school’s commitment to character education and developing the whole child.

Friends of Audubon (FoA) is a 501(c)(3) parent-run organization whose sole mission is to raise money to
support Audubon School. Formed in 2006, the organization works to support Audubon School by developing, marketing and managing fundraising events and activities.
The primary goals of FoA are:
- To promote and support the academic and extra-curricular programs at Audubon School.
- To assist Audubon School in enriching its educational programs by securing, raising and arranging for funds and capital through fundraising activities, including special events, solicitations and grant requests.
- To aid Audubon School in obtaining resources for improving and beautifying its facilities and grounds necessary for the well-being and safety of the school community.
- To develop plans and strategies to identify and solicit individuals, community members, businesses and foundations for gift and grant support.
- To foster business and community involvement to improve the quality of public education and assist Audubon School in achieving its educational objectives.
- To educate the community on the advantages of charitable giving and to motivate prospects to make donations that benefit and promote the educational needs of the community.
