2009 Successes
- 96% Attendance Rate
- Science Scores increased by 16% points
- Math and Reading scores at an all-time high (90%/80% of all students meeting or exceeding state standards)
- The lowest category of student achievement has been eliminated
- At the same time, the top category has increased by 50%
- Students at Audubon are learning more, faster, than at other comparable CPS schools
Audubon’s value-added scores (a measurement of individual student year-over-year progress across all grade levels that are tested) are in the top 3% of all CPS schools!!! Only 14 schools in the system scored higher in this category.
Top Tier CPS School
Because of these successes, Audubon is now recognized as a Tier 1 CPS school. Only 18% of the 500 CPS elementary schools have achieved this distinction.
New Programs at Audubon
- High School Algebra offered to qualified 8th graders
- Computer-based ST math program for grades 2,3,4
- Merit School of Music classes
- Experimenting with single gender classes in 5th grade
- Improved assessment and student progress monitoring
- Increased focus on ensuring at-level reading skills for all students by 3rd grade
